Anticipation

Does it ever seem like Christmas has lost some of its luster.  As adults it is easy to look at Christmas from our past and wonder where has all the excitement gone.  After all, it is tough to compete with the wonderful memories of childhood.  I remember waking up one Christmas morning and finding a new bike next to the tree.  It is hard to get a magical moment like that out of my head.  The tree and presents looked so perfect on that morning of anticipation and excitement.  How do you compete with that.

Yet the anticipation of Christmas, and life, should always be one of anticipation, not of what will be next to the tree, but of what God is going to do with and through our life.  The wonderful gift God provides each of us is that of being a difference maker in the life of others.  This is the gift of service, of being used by God, of being a gift in and of ourselves.  Yes joy comes from giving, but it is what we get from this experience that I believe offers us the greatest gift.  By giving to others we become closer to our creator, and to what His ultimate plan and purpose is for us, His creation.

Eph. 3:20, "Now to HIm who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us".
