Balance is a wonderful part of life.  We see it in nature, we see it in our bodies, we also see it in relationships.  In order to have strong relationships, we must also have a healthy balance.  Fathers are better fathers when they balance this role with time for themselves, with peers, as a husband, and with a career and/or hobby.  Mothers are better mothers when they balance this role with time for themselves, with peers, as a wife and also with a career and/or hobby.

Often when conflict in the family exist, somewhere, somehow, there is unbalance.  It may be in limited quality time between a husband and a wife, it may be limitations on family time, it may also be a result of not enough time for each individual in the family to exist outside of the family system.  Regardless of the conflict, we must all learn to create healthy balances in our lives and with our relationships.

As a Christian, by balance is centered on a relationship with Christ.  Regardless of my role as a father, husband, friend or therapist, if my relationship with Christ is off, so to is everything else.  Each day I strive to give God the first part of my day, to help balance my priorities, goals and objectives for what lies ahead.  When I do not make this time happy, my day is off, and so to our my relationships.

God designed me to function with Him, and without Him I can not function.

John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;  I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly".
