difficult times

Difficulties are just around the corner.  It is not a matter of "if", but when.  We are all one car accident, one illness, one bad report card, one sales deal gone bad away from difficult times.  This is the world we live in and as long as we live here, difficulties will be a part of it.

But it is with difficult times that we have the opportunity to recognize our weakness, and to embrace our strength, the Lord.  John 17:33 says, "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you have tribulations, but take courage; I have overcome the world".  God has conquered the world and all that is within it.  Any trial we face during our time on Earth has already been overcome by the power within us.  Our strength comes from this promise, and His presences.

God does not wish for anyone to suffer, but in our sufferings we become strong, and it is through this strength that we overcome.

Reading the on the Prostitution Awareness Action Foundation of Edmonton (PAAFE.org) wsteibe, I am struck by a common theme: Addicted mom struggling to deal with her own life has little time/effort/patience for her children. Leaves them with male babysitters/friends who sexually abuse the girls. By puberty, the girls are lashing out and/or run away. Get into a downward cycle. Just think how much better life would be if we could help these girls (and their moms) before this bad cycle takes hold!
