Divorce is wrong, there is no two ways about it.  As Christians, we must recognize that God made it very clear how He feels about divorce in His Word, and the conditions to which it is allowed.  Matthew 19:8-9 says, "He (Jesus) said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.  And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.""

These words are very clear, however also very difficult when it comes to troublesome relationships.  I have had contact with countless men and woman in so much pain and hurt because of the actions or lack of attention by their spouse, ready to throw in the towel on their marriage.  Desiring to run from the arguing, bitterness, conflict and damage being done to their self esteem.  Wanting so bad to protect their children from the fallout that is a bad marriage.  But unfortunately this is not a reason for divorce.

To divorce under many circumstances is to say that our comfort is more important than God's commands.  It is also to say that God can not change a person, or a circumstances.  Please understand, I do not condone or approve of husbands and wives that do not live up to their commitment within a marriage, and I believe God will hold each accountable.  But I also know that God desires that we honor our commitments regardless of many of the situations, and our relationship grows with our trust in Him.

Let me also say that in the area of abuse that I do not believe God ever wants you or your family in harms way.  For you and your children to stay in an abusive relationship does not please God.  But we must also take serious God's position and honor His words, regardless of the age we live.

Lastly, if you have experienced divorce I do not believe God can not bless you or your relationships moving forward.  God is love and wants so much to bless our lives.  I am a product of divorce, and know that God can work for good that which was bad.  Have hope that He is, and always will be present.  He is a God of grace and regardless of your path to this point He wants to bless you and continue to grow a relationship with you.
