Entangled

Hebrews 12:1-2, "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

I recognized today that the answer to all my problems is in these two short versus.  God calls me to lay aside every (all) encumbrances, and to fix my eyes on Jesus.  I will admit to not being very good at laying my encumbrances aside.  It seems so much easier to dwell on them.  It seems at times so much more natural to dwell on my problems.  It also gives me an excuse to be negative or upset, often taking it out on the one's I love.

Yet to run the race, to finish the fight, I must learn to lay aside my encumbrances, at to fix my eyes on Christ.  However, I do not have the ability to look at two things at once.  Therefore, to see Christ I must first take my eyes off of my own problems, and focus my attention on the problem solver.  What I get in return is a life of peace, without tangle, with limitedness joy provided by my Creator.
