Fly Balls

My son Christian played in a baseball tournament this past weekend and did a wonderful job.  However, in one game the heavy winds distracted him in center field, and he was unable to make the catch which would have ended the game.  His team ended up winning the game in the next inning, but regardless of the outcome Christian was still somewhat dejected because of his timely error.  It is so hard to teach an 11year old that with errors come opportunities.  This experience will create new opportunities to catch the next ball that comes his way, not to mention will be valuable as he experience the obstacles that life presents as well.

As adults, it can also be extremely hard to take our eyes off of our errors.   I have seen so many people carrying their "missed fly balls" into the next game of their life.  God wants us to live a life of victory, focused on today's game, but with the experience of yesterdays missed balls.  Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose".
