God of Today

In the role of counselor, I have the opportunity to come across many struggling people.  Some are in agony over a divorce, some troubled by difficulties with a child, others have job pressures, and others have lost loved ones.  The weight of these problems, added with the difficulties of life in general, can leave us grasping for air.  A sense of loss and confusion can take over our thoughts and emotions, it is like being in a storm with no real sense of direction or anticipation of end.

Yet Hebrews 4:15 says, "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin".  Christ knows loss, He knows pressure, He knows hurt and pain.  We serve a living Savior who has experienced life on this planet, and is uniquely qualified to understand and respond to our needs.

You and I are not alone in our sufferings.  We have a savior who can appreciate the struggles that life on planet earth provides.  His love is present, it is with purpose and knowledge, it is timely, and it is available all the time.  The God of yesterday, is the God of today.
