Let Go

"Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).

Sometimes it is hard to let go of the past.  It's like an old blanket, so familiar and comfortable.  Even past events of hurt or pain can  sometimes be hard to release.  Each day I find myself face to face with people unable to let go of their past.  Clients hurt by others or painful circumstances, clinging to the familiarity of what they know, feel and experience.  Incapable or at times unwilling to let go.

But to truly appreciate and be thankful for what God has provided, we must learn to let go of the past.  We must appreciate the call to "press on" and trust God's provisions and presences as we release ourselves of the known and grasp for the unknown.  The past, like an anchor, has a way of holding us back from the very promises that God can and will provide.  But we must start the process of letting go.
