Life is not fair

Life Is Not Fair.

Not long ago, many of you will remember my wife was fighting for her life in the ER of our local hospital.  I recall many sleepless nights wondering if life was ever going to be the same, wondering if I could handle the changes ahead of me, wondering if I had the strength to move on.  This was not the plan I had for my life, and many times I asked God "why me".  Things like this happened to other people.  Had I done something to deserve this?  Hadn't I lived a good life?  But through this experience I also recognized the God in crisis.  I was able to experience first hand the God that never leaves.  I was able to experience a power and peace, through the storm, that can only come during times like these.  I am now able to enjoy a new understanding of who God is and will always be.

My short time as a counselor has given me many experiences with people in crisis.  Some within marriage, others with a child, and still others with family difficulties or with careers.  In all circumstances God is always there.  It is our ability to see God in the storm, that allows us to appreciate and cling to the power and peace that is His presences.  I don't believe God ever enjoys our troubles, but I do know that He is in them.  Like a parent helping a child through the growing pains of life, He knows the value each hurt and pain enables, as we grow in maturity and strength.

I want to personally encourage each and every person reading these words to press on!  God has not left you, and He is present to equip and love you regardless of your position.  This is just a step in the journey that is your life in Christ.  Victory is ours, we must only learn to trust in Him, and lean not on ourselves or our circumstances.  God is good, all the time, as is His plan for your life..

2 Cor. 1:3-5

And what I find with age is that His plan is far better than anything I could have planned for myself.
