As I reflected recently on the first half of 2011, I am grateful for God's presence through the many challenges and obstacles our family faced.  I am struck by the strength and hope that is available through these various difficulties.  God never promised that I would not suffer, only that He would never leave me and that He would always love me.  What a blessing suffering can be.

Romans 5:3-5, "And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulations brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
