Newtown

Yesterday was a tough day.  I watched with countless others the aftermath of a gunman's assault on an elementary school in the town of Newtown, Connecticut.  This beautiful quiet community and its wonderful people were home to me and my family not long ago.  My heart and prayers go out to them and their loved ones.

Yesterday I listen and read as people embraced this senseless tragedy.  I watched as people clung to the hope of their faith, but still others that allowed this circumstances to destroy hope, and lay waste to their faith in anything good in our world.  These last 24 hours I have personally struggled with the evils of today and thoughts of the enemy and his foothold on the lives and hearts of so many.  It is easy to lose hope in a lost world drifting farther and farther away from God.

Romans 6:18-19 says, "so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,".  Today I take refuge in my Lord.  My hope is not in what I see or feel, but on the promises and presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is still Lord and still on the throne.  The tragedies of our days do not minimize the presences of God, they only serve to further illustrate our need, and the hope that exist only with The Savior.

My hope is built on nothing less but Jesus blood and righteousness!
