Not Enough

I remember a visitor to our church many years ago making the reference between Christians and a cup, to be filled we must first be empty.  In life this is very often true.  When we come to the end of our rope, God is there waiting to rescue, bless and sustain us.  But don't miss the fact that very often we have to be empty or at the end of our rope first.

Trials, tribulations and life in general, can leave us feeling empty, frustrated and defeated.  We can feel alone, attacked and with no real sense of purpose or motivation.  It is at these times that many question Gods presence.  Why would a loving God put us in such situations, we might ask.

But it is also at these times we are in a position to fully understand and see our God at work.  God wants us empty.  He wants us to be in a position of refinement.  He wants us to need Him.  We are only truly in this position, when our own effort is not enough.
