Obedience

2 John 1:6, "And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments."

As a Christian, Love and Obedience go hand in hand.  It goes beyond feelings, insight, intellect, desire, intuition or social acceptance.  I show my love to Christ in and through my obedience to His Word.  I will admit the difficulty at times of this task.  So many days my own feelings and emotions get in the way.  I find myself leading with my own desires and very often disregarding what I know to be God's will.

I don't set out to disobey God, but that is often the result.  The keys is recognizing God's will and doing it.  Obedience is about WILL.  If I desire to obey I very often do, if I desire to feel good or go my own way, I very often do.  I tell a story in my sessions about the farmer who had two hunting dogs.  A pastor friend of mine ask him one day which dog was the strongest hunter, to which the farmer answered "the one I feed the most".

In your life what you feed the most will be strongest.  Obedience comes with will and desire but also by feeding your mind, heart and body with the things that will grow you closer to the Savior.  As we get closer to the Light,  darkness flees along with our desires.
