Obedience

Andrew Murray wrote, "God can reveal His will in perplexity and difficulty only to a heart that has learned to obey and honor Him in the small things of daily life".  How much do we as Christians miss God's true calling and power because we have not learned to give Him the totality of our lives, our decisions, our money, our time, our talents, our family, our thoughts, etc.

Luke 6:46 says, "But why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I say".  In my life I have found great power as a result of great surrender.  There is no short cut, to trust God is to give up trust in yourself and the world.

It was almost four years ago that I left the world of business to pursue a full time career in the world of Christian Counseling.  This did not come without a great amount of fear, anxiety and questions.  It was extremely difficult to leave the comfort of what I knew to the uneasiness of what I did not know.  In order to move in us, God must get us to move.  And often the movement God requires comes without a lot of detailed direction or expectations.  He requires only trust.  But His promise is to never leave us or forsake us, and His desire is that we experience abundant life only available through Him.

I have never regretted the decision I made to pursue the career I currently enjoy.  This is not to say I didn't have doubts or fears.  But at each moment God provided and revealed Himself to the point that I know Him more today than ever before.  Obedience is not just about big career moves, God wants every aspect of your life, and promises His blessed presence and power when we but believe and obey.
