Does our world know what it means to have true peace.  This morning I read in Luke 19:41-42, "When He (Jesus) approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make peace!""  Today there appears to be more unrest in our world than ever before.  Anxiety and Depression have never been higher.  Yet do we actually seek after true peace?  Or do we exhaust ourselves pursuing temporary joy or happiness, in place of lasting peace?

Peace is not the absences of trials or the removal of conflict, rather it is enhanced, and never more present, than when we are experiencing these times.  True peace can not come from money or titles, relationships or children, yet we seek after these things like each one of them are capable of providing something unwavering.  And these are the things that account for the most struggle.  Temporary joy will never amount to long lasting peace.

So where do we find our unwavering, sustainable, enduring the person of Jesus Christ.  I find that this concept is so often minimized in both the world, and even His Church.  Yet when we totally commit our lives to His Lordship, when we agree to give up our agenda for His, when we surrender to His ownership over our lives, we can experience lasting peace.  All else will fail.

John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."
