Rock or Sand

Is your house built on sand or rock?  Christ tells us in Matthew 7:24, that everyone who hears..and acts, can be compared to a man who builds his house on the rock.  However in verse 26, He compares those who hear and do not act, to a man who builds his house on sand.  One experiences stability and strength, while the other destruction as "great is the fall (Matt. 7:27)".

The key to stability in our walk as Christians is in our action according to the Word of God.  Notice, it is not a product of feelings, emotions, circumstances or events.  Stability does not come from a bank account, church membership, volunteer work, or pedigree, but only from hearing, knowing and responding to God's loving message to His people, the Bible.

According to Matthew 7, to hear and not act, is to experience life unprotected, unstable and with a great potential for failure.  To act is not a product of what we feel, or what the world deems as politically correct or appropriate.  To act on God's Word is a product will, it is knowing what is right, and doing it, regardless of events, circumstances or emotions.  It is experiencing the loving nature of a living God, through obedience in love, and in turn recognizing and living the relationship we were created to enjoy.

God's Word has been and always will be the key to our stability and peace yesterday, today and forever.
