I met a young lady recently that was going through a divorce.  Her husband of two years had decided their relationship was not enough for him, and he sought happiness elsewhere.  As I visited with this young lady, I was amazed by her resilience and determination.  She was not going to let the situation define her, rather she was going to define the situation.  Instead of seeing herself as a victim, she saw herself as a survivor.  She also recognized God's hand on her life.

Not one of us is immune to the presence of trials and difficulties in this world.  As Christians we are not of this world and therefore should anticipate more, not less difficulties, this side of heaven.   But in our weakness, He is strong.  We are no more closer to our Lord and Savior than when we are in the midst of a storm.  God desires, loves, and enjoys, when we need Him, and only Him.  Life's difficulties allow God to be God, and our dependence on Him pleases Him.  It does not please Him when we face difficulties, but when those difficulties increase our need for a deeper and stronger relationship with Him, He is pleased.

Trusting God through difficult times is the anticipation of His ability to make good from something not so good.  It also allows a deeper intimacy with our savior, as we grow in closeness to the God of peace, in the midst of our storms.
